Essential Reading For Learner Drivers

Even if you don’t choose PSJ Driver Training to teach you to drive, I am sure you will find the following information very helpful, as it could save you a lot of time, stress and money.

Learning to drive and choosing the right instructor, is a major decision and can be a costly experience if you get it wrong.

The following points are things you should know and be aware about but unfortunately, they are important points that pupils are not told about and sadly result in you wasting a lot of time and money.

How To Recognise A Fully Qualified DSA Instructor

A fully qualified DSA (Driving Standards Agency) Instructor is required, by law, to display a green badge on the left hand side of the windscreen. A trainee instructor is required to display a pink triangle badge in the same place.

What Is The Difference Between A Fully Qualified DSA Instructor And A Trainee Instructor?

A fully qualified DSA Instructor will have completed all training modules and passed the necessary exams required, allowing them to teach pupils to drive for an agreed fee and will be registered as a Fully Qualified Instructor with the DSA (Driving Standard Agency).

Trainee instructors have only six months to pass their final part three exam. During this period, they can charge monies for their services. However, if a trainee instructor fails to pass the final exam within the allocated 6 months, they are required to wait another two years before starting the whole training process again.

Note: If you start having lessons with a trainee instructor and they fail to pass their final exam whilst you are still having lessons with them, they will no longer be able to teach you. This could result in you having to look for another instructor and leave you financially out of pocket!

How Many Driving Lessons Before Test

Here at PSJ Driver Training most of my pupils pass first or second time. This is in a time far less than the recent DSA survey of 47 hours with a driving instructor plus and additional 20 hours with friends or family for a first time pass.

I achieve this excellent pass rate by not only teaching the physical and practical aspects of driving but also the mental attitude needed to pass your test and become a safe driver for life.

I personally do not believe in giving my pupils false hope. I make no false claims by giving them a time scale until I have assessed their driving skills and capabilities. I believe it is vital that you make the right choice when choosing a driving instructor and I am always happy to talk to you and discuss any questions you may want answering to help eliminate and leave any anxiety of learning to drive well behind you., with no obligation on your behalf.
